I recently had a meaningful conversation with an outreach worker at the Ann Vogel Clinic, where I received training on using a Naloxone Kit. The clinic provides outreach services and welcomes walk-in clients seeking harm reduction services or interested in discussing their stabilization or treatment options.
During our conversation, I learned that a significant number of drug users in Richmond prefer smoking drugs over injection. It became clear to me that providing a safe space for drug inhalation could significantly reduce exposure to violence, offer protection from law enforcement, and promote equity among drug users. However, the challenge remains for those awaiting treatment, as many face long wait times.
This leads to an important question: Where can these individuals seek support while waiting to be accepted into a treatment and detox center?
