I had the opportunity to meet someone (for convenience and privacy, let’s call this person “A”) once again while they volunteered at our lunch program. Before A’s helper told me, I didn’t realize that A had a disability.
I asked A, “How has your day been so far? Did you enjoy your work and lunch? Have our team members treated you well?” A responded with a joyful smile, “Very well. I enjoy my time here. Thank you.”
I’m grateful for organizations that help individuals like A with disabilities in various ways. A is in a program that is not just preparing them for future employment, but also shaping their life in a meaningful way. I hope and pray that more individuals like A can find the meaning, talent, acceptance, value, dignity, opportunity, and support they need.
