Follow, Pray and Support 關注,禱告和支持

Oct 22, 2024 – Pathways to Wellness: Strength, Support, and New Beginnings

Mental health is a growing concern in BC, with 18% of the population experiencing challenges like anxiety, depression, or substance use disorders. In Richmond, youth are particularly vulnerable, often facing high stress and limited access to care. Yet, there is hope and support for those in need.

During my visit to Pathways Clubhouse Richmond, I was inspired by their dedication to empowering those living with mental illness. Through their Clubhouse Model, Pathways provides a space where individuals are valued for their strengths, helping them rebuild their lives through education, housing, and meaningful relationships. Their commitment to breaking down stigma and fostering a community of belonging is truly impactful.

One of their standout services is the Transitional Employment Program (TEP). This program offers members the chance to gain valuable work experience, build confidence, and re-enter the workforce with ongoing support from the Pathways staff. It’s not just about jobs—it’s about restoring dignity and empowering individuals to grow personally and professionally.

Pathways also offers specialized support, including a Chinese support group, which provides culturally sensitive care and connection for Chinese-speaking members of the community. This inclusivity ensures that more people can access the help they need, in the language they are comfortable with.

I am excited to partner with Pathways in their mission. I will be conducting workshops on coping with depression, both in English and in Chinese for the Chinese support group. Together, we will continue to spread hope, support caregivers, and walk alongside those on their journey to healing.
