Every Thursday evening from 7:30 PM to 8:30 PM, I host A Cup of Coffee, A Caring Community, and Open Conversations at Blenz Coffee. It’s a time for reflection, sharing, and building connections with those who walk through the doors.
On February 6, something caught my attention. I had noticed a group of gentlemen gathering for coffee every Thursday evening, always deep in conversation. Curiosity finally got the best of me that night, and I approached them.
As I introduced myself, I learned they were a close-knit group of friends from different Middle Eastern countries but bound by shared culture and companionship. They spoke to each other in their native language but seamlessly welcomed me into their space.
To my surprise, they already recognized me as a religious figure. When I shared that I am an Anglican priest, they responded with warmth and hospitality, inviting me to join their conversation. It was a simple yet profound reminder that bridges between cultures and faiths are often built in the most unexpected moments—sometimes, over a simple cup of coffee.
This encounter reinforced why I love these Thursday gatherings. Community happens when we open ourselves up to new connections, step beyond our circles, and let curiosity lead us to deeper understanding.
Who knows what future conversations will hold? However, one thing is sure: coffee has a way of bringing people together in unexpected ways.
