I am deeply grateful for the incredible opportunity to be interviewed by Gloria Macarenko on her inspiring program, “On the Coast,” on CBC Radio 1 today. Although the segment was brief and could not delve deeper, the message is powerful and clear: let’s embrace inclusivity and work together to build a community where everyone can thrive. We must rise above fear and misconceptions, championing solutions that tackle the root causes of homelessness. By caring for our most vulnerable members, we create a safer, more compassionate, and prosperous community for all. Together, let’s choose understanding, compassion, and solutions that truly make a difference.
We understand that there are often concerns about supportive housing. Some people worry about the impact on property values or an increase in crime. However, research has consistently shown that supportive housing does not lead to these negative outcomes. In fact, by providing stability and support, it can often have a positive impact on the surrounding community.
Let’s work together to build a community where everyone has the opportunity to thrive. Let’s rise above fear and misconceptions, and embrace solutions that address the root causes of homelessness. By caring for our most vulnerable members, we create a safer, more compassionate, and prosperous community for all. Let’s choose understanding, compassion, and solutions that truly make a difference.
