It was more than a tour; it was a moment of reflection and reconnection with the human stories behind the headlines.

I sat down with Emma, the assistant manager, whose insight and dedication gave me a deeper look into the realities of running a supportive housing facility. It’s reconnecting with everyday life, with employment, meaning, belonging, and the kind of warm community where substances are no longer needed as a way to feel good or to escape.

What struck me most was the courage it takes to dismantle stigma piece by piece, conversation by conversation. RainCity’s work isn’t perfect, nor is it easy, but it’s purposeful. And today, I witnessed that purpose in action.
