September 27, 2025 – “One Richmond, Many Cultures”, A Day of Connection, Clarity, and Discipleship

Today at Richmond Caring Place, the One Richmond, Many Cultures event offered more than celebration. It became a space of deep listening, learning, and shared hope.

As part of 360 Community’s presence, I had the privilege of engaging with many visitors, especially Mandarin-speaking seniors who came with curiosity and care. One woman asked about the naloxone kit, and I was grateful for the opportunity to explain how it works and why it matters. It was a small moment of education that could one day save a life.

Others came with questions about SOGI , what it stands for, why it matters, and how it connects to our shared values of dignity and inclusion. These conversations were not just informative. They were invitations to deeper understanding and discipleship, to walk with others in truth and grace.

I also had the opportunity to speak with a few visitors about the way of following Christ. Not as a doctrine to memorize, but as a path of love, service, and presence. In simple words and quiet moments, I shared what it means to walk with Jesus. To care for the vulnerable, to break down barriers, and to live with compassion and courage.

Many visitors received our information sheet on Breaking the Stigma. It speaks to the realities of SOGI and SOGI 123 education, substance use, homelessness, and mental health. Each sheet handed out was more than paper. It was an invitation to reflect, to learn, and to stand with those whose stories are often silenced or misunderstood.

I also made meaningful connections with other service providers. People who are doing good work in our city and who expressed interest in future partnership. There is a growing sense that collaboration is not only possible, but necessary, especially when it comes to breaking stigma and building inclusive community.

Today reminded me that discipleship is not confined to pulpits or pews. It happens in conversations about naloxone. In explanations of SOGI. In the offering of a cross. In the willingness to show up and say, You matter.

Thank you to Richmond Multicultural Community Services for hosting this beautiful event. And thank you to everyone who stopped by the 360 Community table. May the seeds planted today grow into deeper connection, shared service, and lasting hope.
